Beat Radio is the musical outlet of Brian Sendrowitz, a New York based songwriter. I first discovered Beat Radio through FreeIndie (see previous post), and there will be a couple of their tunes on our 2nd FreeIndie Mixtape, coming soon. The band are admirable champions of free music, and there are loads of hidden gems if you take 5 minutes to trawl through their Bandcamp page. In particular, check out their free Singles 2014 collection.

FreeIndie.com was one of the first sites to get me thinking about the potential of sharing free, legal music. They used to post a 3 song sampler for a band’s work most days, and I discovered a lot of cool music that way. For three years now, I’ve handpicked some of my favourite tunes from bands featured on that site. So, I’m proud to present the first of three FreeIndie mixtapes that The Free Music Movement be sharing with you. Each track contains a link to that band’s original FreeIndie post, where you can download it, plus a couple of others.

You can check it out on our 8tracks page, here. I consider a lot of these tracks as real unearthed gems, and I hope that you feel the same way. JB
